Regret a day in life – Do you?

Regret a day in life – Do you?

Never regret a day in your life….

One day I decided to quit… I quit my job, my relationship, my spirituality… I wanted to quit my life.

I went to the woods to have one last talk with God. “God”, I said. “Can you give me one good reason not to quit?” His answer surprised me… “Look around”, He said. “Do you see the fern and the bamboo?” “Yes”, I replied. “When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them. I gave them light. I gave them water. The fern quickly grew from the earth. Its brilliant green covered the floor. Yet nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo. In the second year the Fern grew more vibrant and plentiful. And again, nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo. He said. “In the third year, there was still nothing from the bamboo seed. But I would not quit. In the fourth year, again, there was nothing from the bamboo seed.

I would not quit.” He said. “Then in the fifth year a tiny sprout emerged from the earth. Compared to the fern it was seemingly small and insignificant… But just 6 months later the bamboo rose to over 100 feet tall. It had spent the five years growing roots. Those roots made it strong and gave it what it needed to survive. I would not give any of my creations a challenge it could not handle.” He said to me. “Did you know, my child, that all this time you have been struggling, you have actually been growing roots.

I would not quit on the bamboo. I will never quit on you. Don’t compare yourself to others.” He said. “The bamboo had a different purpose than the fern. Yet, they both make the forest beautiful. Your time will come”, God said to me. “You will rise high!” “How high should I rise?” I asked. “How high will the bamboo rise?” He asked in return. “As high as it can?” I questioned. “Yes.” He said, “Give me glory by rising as high as you can.”

I left the forest and bring back this story.

Anger & Love Have No Limits

A man was polishing his new car, his 4 yr old son picked a stone and scratched lines on the side of the car.

In anger, the man took the child’s hand and hit it many times, not realizing he was using a wrench.
At the hospital, the child lost all his fingers due to multiple fractures. When the child saw his father ..with painful eyes he asked “Dad when will my fingers grow back?”

The man was so hurt and speechless. He went back to his car and kicked it a lot of times.
Devastated by his own actions sitting in front of that car he looked at the scratches, the child had written “I LOVE YOU DAD”.

Somewhere in the Internet, we learn lost lessons.

Zen Stories

Word spread across the countryside about the wise Holy Man who lived in a small house atop the mountain. A man from the village decided to make the long and difficult journey to visit him. When he arrived at the house, he saw an old servant inside who greeted him at the door. “I would like to see the wise Holy Man,” he said to the servant. The servant smiled and led him inside. As they walked through the house, the man from the village looked eagerly around the house, anticipating his encounter with the Holy Man. Before he knew it, he had been led to the back door and escorted outside. He stopped and turned to the servant, “But I want to see the Holy Man!”

“You already have,” said the old man. “Everyone you may meet in life, even if they appear plain and insignificant… see each of them as a wise Holy Man. If you do this, then whatever problem you brought here today will be solved.”

People’s reactions to this story:

  • ” This reminds me of Jesus. He was born a simple carpenter’s son. It also reminded me of Martin Luther King believing that we are all human and worthy of respect.”
  • “Anticipation of something may be greater than the thing itself. Anticipation of looks is always a mistake.”
  • “You can’t judge a book by its cover.”
  • “This is too obvious to be a story. You don’t have to think about the point and make it yours. It just hits you on the head.”
  • “Every step you take in life is significant. There are meanings to all and every event that takes place.”
  • “The man in the story got lost looking for a deep solution to his problem, when all along the answer was right on the surface.”
  • “Everyone you meet in life will know something about life that you may not.”
  • “If you feel love and respect for all people that you meet, you will receive inward peace.”

Somewhere from the internet … true stories are buried.
